Study Purpose
I participated in a study called “Anger, Jealousy, and Infidelity.” This study aimed to investigate emotions such as anger and envy and their interaction and interdependence in human temperament. By studying a person’s attitude towards themselves and their partner, the author wanted to understand why some people get angry when others remain calm and vice versa.
Data Collection
The study collects data on people’s attitudes toward relationship satisfaction with their partner and themselves through surveys. The hypothesis is “perceived value of the relationship and partner’s behavior affects the emotions of jealousy and anger”. Participants were offered scenarios and questions requiring them to assess their perception of their value through their partner’s behavior and emotional reaction to it.
Areas for Improvement
To enhance the study, it would be beneficial to make the descriptions of hypothetical scenarios more realistic. It would also help to collect additional information about the impact of other factors: personality traits, cultural differences in temperament, and so on (Creamer & Reeping, 2020). A third tip would be to cover a longer period. After all, emotions and their strength vary depending on many factors, and the information available today may change in a few months. The study would have significantly improved with the updated data.
Research Ethic
In terms of ethics, the researchers did everything right. They ensured the participants’ informed consent by explaining the study’s objectives, the possible consequences, and the methods used. Although it is 100% unknown whether deception was used in the study, everything indicates it was not.
Findings
As mentioned above, aggressive or envious reactions can be influenced by the society or culture in which a person grew up. To this end, it is helpful to include questions about such factors in the study to identify their impact. In addition, the situational factor has a significant impact, so extending the time frame and allowing people to take the survey several times will help.
Application of Findings
The study results will enhance my comprehension of anger and envy and their causes and intensification. If the study shows an increase in jealousy in response to a situation, I can train to improve my reaction or look for ways to improve communication with my partner. In the professional sphere, knowledge will help understand the regulation of emotions and help society in challenging situations.
