Extraverted Intuitive Feeling Judging Personality: Strengths, Blind Spots and Emotional Intelligence

Assessing Personality Type

My test outcome, based on Jung’s and Briggs Myers’ theories of personality type, reveals that I am an Extraverted Intuitive Feeling Judging (ENFJ). Overall, people with ENFJ are human and kindhearted, although they can also be manipulative. They are global learners who readily see the big picture and can multitask successfully in multiple projects. They are flexible on time and order as they can allow last-minute feedback, which has proved helpful in the team. Their ability to relate well with people, gather information, and juggle between responsibilities makes them decisive and organized.

Personality Strengths and Weaknesses

One of my strengths as an ENFJ is that I have several qualities of a great leader. Notably, research shows that the personality of a leader determines the mood of other people and the retention of customers (Gore, 2014). My personality makes me organized when dealing with interpersonal relationships. I have high levels of emotional intelligence, implying that I experience a smooth transit between my rational and emotional centers (Bradberry & Graves, 2010). The other strength is the ability to listen and pay attention to the needs of all people.

However, there are a few blind spots that can dampen the strengths of people with ENFJ personalities. For instance, they need help listening to their needs and not taking things too personally. One essential teaching across all personality theories is that the self organizes thoughts, feelings, and actions (CrashCourse, 2015). It means that despite my weaknesses, I can gain self-awareness and learn to recognize any symptoms of stress or burnout (Bradberry & Graves, 2010). Thus, despite the drawbacks emanating from caring for the needs of others while dismissing personal self-care, it is possible to improve.

Managing Personality to Boost Emotional Intelligence

Conclusively, I now understand that managing my personality is vital in helping me boost my emotional intelligence. Managing my personality starts by gaining insights into how I behave and relate with others, and my impact on my surroundings. After taking the personality test, I became conscious of my strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, whenever I feel overwhelmed, I can attend to my needs and exhibit emotional intelligence when dealing with others.
