The survey is all about the determination of self-esteem among individuals, especially children, and the youth. It also gives insights into the rationale of self-esteem. It also takes into account the factors that may affect the self-esteem of specific individuals in society. What could actions help boost the self-esteem of individuals in the community to avoid instances of circumstances that may be discouraging to an individual? According to research, self-esteem refers to a person’s overall sense of feeling about their value or worth in life. It is the measure of one’s attitude towards their self. This measures the values such as how they like themselves, how they appreciate their life, and approve their associated lifestyle.
According to research, several factors are believed to affect or instead influence self-esteem in individuals in the society we live in. These factors include the genetic composition of specific individuals, the life experiences that they have grown, their age, social circumstances, or the influence of the society may also affect the level of self-esteem of certain people, comparing of oneself with others could also have a significant impact of the self-esteem of individuals (Babbie et al., 2007). According to the conducted survey, letting children be themselves will help them become confident and learn new survival skills essential in ensuring that they become better people in society. Correcting children when they misbehave is a good move for parents, but it may also reduce the level of their self-esteem, which may make them build fear and anxiety in their actions.
The survey design included the longitudinal study design, which is mainly used to give specific data about certain phenomena or trends with the same populations such as the youths, children, married people, and elderly people in society. The dynamics within these associated groups, or a selected and isolated group of people. In this survey, the research was to view the level of the self-esteem of individuals in the society, which is entirely dynamic depending on an individual. As the longitudinal research design is to study the level of self-esteem depending on the age of specific individuals in the society, it was evident that age truly affects the level of self-esteem in individuals.
The elderly people tend to have better self-esteem than the youths, who are mostly depressed due to using drugs and faced with social challenges such as unemployment and lack of resources. This design is more of a cohort study design. The responses were set up in a question-answer format in which the respondents were required to click the most favorable answer appropriately according to the asked question. This survey may be effective than some of the online surveys (Babbie et al. 2007). This is because the respondents click the answer appropriately; they feel comfortable with it. It also reduces the cost and the time used in the survey and analyzes the survey results. These questionnaires can reach many potential respondents, which gives an accurate reflection on the entire population.
The other thing I could have done differently is to use survey software to help administer survey research since it is a powerful tool that allows researchers to gather information in all the online platforms and models, including online surveys, phone surveys, and paper surveys. This will ensure widespread use of qualitative data to help in a qualitative study to help in reducing the costs and diving reliable information.
