School and Preschool Education: Interactions Between Parents, Children, and Teachers

Introduction

School and preschool educational systems encompass a wide range of various roles, situations, and processes, including communication. Social interactions between teachers, parents, and, most importantly, children occur on a regular basis due to the constant work. Consequently, the activities included in communication need to be improved and developed since youngsters’ educational conditions have to be appropriate. The five videos analyzed in the paper discuss the important notions of human relationships devoted to interactions between parents, children, teachers, and general communication qualities.

Concerning the first video that should be analyzed, “Building relationships between parents and teachers,” it is feasible to state that it includes a thorough comprehension of the communication process between adults. Megan Olivia Hall, an educator, becomes a mother in her Ted Talk and is informed of how parents and teachers desire identical objectives for their children (TEDx Talk, 2013). She emphasizes the significance of fostering positive connections between parents and teachers by sharing information about what they want from the institution (TEDx Talk, 2013). Positive relationships between parents and teachers will result in the greatest performance in youngsters’ efficiency as a consequence of the assessment (TEDx Talk, 2013). Considering the manner the video impacted the current way of being in the classroom, with parents, or the input from the environment, it highlighted the necessity of developing communication with parents as mediators. With the help of well-established relationships and trust, teachers and parents can exchange valuable information that can positively influence children’s effectiveness and satisfaction.

Referring to the second video, which is “Rita Pierson: Every kid needs a champion,” the author explains the role of a “champion” and describes the major features of such a person. According to the speaker, every child needs a hero, someone who will never surrender and abandon them, who recognizes the value of connection, and who will encourage them to be their best potential version (TED, 2013). A champion is defined as an individual who enables a youngster to seize control of a discussion or activity (TED, 2013). Empowering children to accept leadership indicates that people are interested in what they have to say and believe it is significant (TED, 2013). Thus, the video impacted the current way of being in the classroom since it depicted the need for a teacher or educator to become a motivating hero instead of exclusively delivering information and knowledge.

Considering the third video named “The psychology of culture,” the speaker analyzed the contribution of society and its norms to interpersonal communication processes. According to Lanzer and his premises, individuals at the bottom of the social structure define whether or not a community is hierarchical and whether or not there is a huge power gap or distance (TEDx Talk, 2015). He claims that under dictatorships, for instance, people at the bottom permit themselves to be strictly governed (TEDx Talk, 2015). In fact, a person is able to initially determine specific conditions and borderlines that will influence the whole society and the manner of interacting. The video impacted the way to view input from the environment due to the fact that it encompassed the possibility of an individual, for example, a teacher, in creating favorable circumstances for communicating.

Concerning the fourth video, “How childhood trauma affects health across a lifetime,” it is feasible to underline that mental difficulties can affect body health. According to doctor Nadine Burke Harris, the continuous stress of maltreatment has genuine physical repercussions on cognitive development (TED, 2015). This occurs over the course of a lifetime, with people who have been exposed to elevated levels of trauma having a threefold increased risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer (TED, 2015). Hence, the video impacted the current way of being in the classroom since it emphasizes the necessity of eliminating any probability for children to be psychologically influenced in a negative manner.

Considering the fifth video, which is “How to actively listen to others,” the speaker highlights that it is essential to improve active listening skills for better social interactions. According to Pierce, in effective communication, listening refers to the capacity to correctly hear and analyze messages (TEDx Talk, 2019). Active listening is a quality that supports all healthy human connections and is one of the cornerstones of success (TEDx Talk, 2019). In general, the video influenced the way to recognize input from the environment since it provides a thorough explanation of the reason for developing listening abilities and becoming a greater listener that can decode information.

To summarize, teachers and parents can exchange useful information that can favorably improve children’s effectiveness and contentment due to well-established connections and trust. Instead of only offering information and expertise, teachers and educators must become motivational heroes. A person can identify certain circumstances and boundaries that will have an impact on the entire society and how people interact. The constant stress of abuse has real, physical consequences for a child’s cognitive development. One of the aspects of success is the ability to listen properly, which is a trait that promotes all successful human interactions.
