In this article, Jach and Smillie (2019) investigate the nature of ambiguity tolerance as the ability to perceive uncertain situations as non-threatening and appealing. In general, the significance of this study is presupposed by the impact of ambiguity tolerance on people’s well-being and behavior – in particular, while ambiguity tolerant individuals tend to be more satisfied and relaxed, the fear of unknown makes people worried, anxious, depressed. In addition, there were no existing papers dedicated to the connection between five personality traits and ambiguity tolerance. In particular, authors aim to define whether ambiguity tolerance is grounded in attraction as openness to experience or fear (neuroticism) (, Jach & Smillie, 2019). On the basis of a specific study organized for the research’s participants, it was found out that extraversion and openness to experience positively correlate with ambiguity tolerance in contrast with neuroticism. In addition, these traits relate to tolerance via assertiveness and intellectual curiosity rather than aesthetic appreciation or sociability.

This article describes two studies that aim to evaluate the connection between openness to experience and creative metacognition. In other words, Puente-Diaz et al. (2022) assess the impact of openness to experience on people’s ability to provide creative ideas. The rationale of this research is a lack of relevant studies and the fact that openness to experience may be regarded as the most cognitive-oriented personality trait (Puente-Diaz et al., 2022). In both studies, participants were asked to complete questionnaires for the assessment of their openness to experience and divergent thinking tasks. On the basis of answers and the evaluation of ideas’ strengths and weaknesses, it was found out that openness to experience along with intellect substantially contributes to the generation, evaluation, and selection of ideas and their originality (Puente-Diaz et al., 2022). In addition, openness to experience support the development of individuals’ creative abilities as well.
