Academician Piaget deduced several age levels of development of children. Each of them corresponds to certain abilities and development possibilities. At the same time, the book Fresh Princess by Denene Miller is a representation of literature for one of the age categories. The book was created in an easy-to-understand and presentation style. The book is most suitable for children in the Preoperational stage of development.
In the Preoperational stage, between the ages of 2 and 7, according to Piaget, children begin to perceive basic words and pictures. The book Fresh Princess is aimed specifically at this age category, as it accompanies all statements with illustrations (Cherry, 2020). At the same time, it may be difficult for children to understand some parts of the book, as an extensive vocabulary and long sentences are used. The text is aimed at motivating ordinary actions and does not contain topics that may be incomprehensible to children (Miller, 2019). Additionally, no mention is made of topics that should not be discussed or considered by children at a young age. However, there is a theme of loss of happiness, which should not be replayed by children of this age for reasoning.
In conclusion, The Fresh Princess book for the Preoperational stage of child development is a good representation of the absence of objectively taboo topics for children. This book was not familiar to me before the analysis, but it was a pleasant discovery. At the same time, the use of long sentences can make it difficult to understand at this age. Thus, the book has both strengths and weaknesses, which may be revised in future versions.
