Childhood Developmental Theories

Childhood progress theories describe how kids adapt and develop throughout infancy. These theories emphasize developing interpersonal, psychological, and cognitive skills, among other areas of development. Diana frequently uses data from researchers who employ natural sightings, empirical observations, and other techniques to gather scientific knowledge while monitoring her child’s growth. She is mainly guided by developmental theories, such as behaviorism, which teaches parents how to encourage desirable behavior in their kids (Berk, 2019). Since Diana chooses to keep an open mind and is primarily curious, she seeks suggestions on how to give an admirable example of appropriate behavior for her child to follow, which eventually helps her be aware of how negative worries and uncertainties can be classically conditioned. Keeping an open mind allows Diana to do the best for her daughter and ultimately bolsters her daughter’s positive development.

With an understanding of psychoanalytic ideas, she can support her child’s healthy ego development by assisting each one in achieving specific social objectives, such as trust in the case of her baby daughter, Zane. Diana opts for the ecological systems theory to comprehend how her child’s development is influenced by the locality, education, family and loved ones’ networks, and other components of the more extensive social system. The mother gets to reflect on how nature and nurture combine to influence development while observing the commonalities and dissimilarities in the child.

Per how Diana treats her child, it is evident that her interaction leads to a positive and happy relationship. By contemporarily understanding and always supporting her child, it is easier to predict that related events will follow, which involve the daughter quickly opening up to her mother in the future. Children do wrong from time to time, but how Diana administers discipline to her daughter is a significant factor, as it is not too harsh but very stern.

Diana emphasizes the nurturing aspect more as she raises her daughter Zane. For instance, Zane displays an irregular sleeping pattern which she can gain from daytime sun exposure as her mom sets a bedtime routine that promotes sound sleep. Genes might dictate whether a baby is simply quiet or comfortable when screaming. However, actions like swaddling, rocking and swaying can assist overcome Zane’s nature of irregular sleeping. And Diana gets to do it regularly to ensure the comfort of her child.

Diana believes that child development continually happens since she has witnessed her newborn transition from infancy to toddlerhood over the few years since her birth, mostly where Zane repeatedly becomes more adept at walking and talking. Eventually, this gradual development pattern will give Zane independence from her mom and form and grow a bond with her parent. When a child reaches toddlerhood, they start to scale up to more meaningful interactions with other kids (Berk, 2019). It will help Diana understand how her child is doing in school and what she is learning as she participates in lessons and other important school activities like making friends and getting along with classmates. Behaviorists can closely relate Diana’s theory to Erickson’s Psychological Development theory, which focuses on social engagement and disputes at various developmental phases and describes progress and transformation throughout life.

When it comes to psychoanalytical ideas that concentrate on the construction of personality and how the conscious and unconscious aspects of the person impact perception and behavior, the parents do come relatively nearby. The id, ego, and superego are the three fundamental parts that the parents get to display (Berk, 2019). The wholly unconscious id represents the primal sexual and aggressive drives that all creatures have inherited via evolution. The superego stands in for the normative branch of character. It comprises the ethical standards, ideals, and morality, while the ego symbolizes the logical extension of personality that attempts to construct practical ways to satisfy emotions.

The psychology and emotional theories of the parent, which are strongly emphasized by psychologists on how observable conditions in the environment relate to observable behaviors, have a significant impact on the psychoanalytic theories of this child. However, since it cannot be expected that there can be any one approach to describe infant development fully, cognitive values also play a significant role. (Berk, 2019). Most of them are aimed at certain facets of child development, like how they acquire, see the environment, or connect with others.

How the parent conducts herself in the child’s development is agreeable. Children have been frequently treated as miniature versions of adults, with little consideration given to the numerous improvements in cognitive functioning, linguistic proficiency, and physical development during infancy and teenage years (Berk, 2019). Diana tends to adhere closely to what her child is doing despite how insignificant it might be.

How Diana nurtures, her daughter makes one appreciate the love shown towards Zane, as she treats her with a lot of love and affection. Despite how demanding the daughter might be, she will grow affectionately close to her mom. In one instance where Diana was doing her house chores, Zane was very restless to the point of crying aloud. Her mother took hold of her and sat her on her back, and firmly restrained Zane on her backside using a garment as she continued working on her chores.

That mere act of rocking her baby from her back soothed Zane right to sleep, and with such, Zane will grow closely bonded to her mom and ever appreciative of her. Nurturing draws the parent and baby close together, and with that, a typically unbreakable bond is generated. Many parents on a global scale have their preferred technique to help their children develop positively. Still, in Diana’s case, she stands a great chance to have her daughter grow up to be positively oriented in her life. With such a good example, parents can and should take up Diana’s way of doing things, aiming toward a positive pattern of child development.
