How One Can Apply Psychology to One’s Future Life

Through discussion postings, assignments, and independent study, I have gained a great deal of knowledge during the course. I have learned a lot about psychology, and it will help me shape my future and better comprehend the people around me. In this paper, I will discuss how studying psychology has changed my perspective on life and how it will help me better relate to others in the future. In my paper, I will discuss what I have learned in the class and how I want to use that knowledge in my future career and personal life.

Parenting has been made easier for me because of my studies in psychology. Child growth and how a child’s mind operates became more apparent. Each child grows in a unique way and at their pace. I discovered that both genetics and environment play a significant part in a child’s development. There is a sense that you cannot change your genes or parents. Thus, you cannot change your surroundings (King, 2019). I learned about the differences between psychoanalytic thinking and behavioral. Any of these viewpoints may influence a child’s behavior.

The psychodynamic view emphasizes the idea that a child’s early life experiences may have a significant impact on the behaviors they carry into adulthood. As a parent, I may use this viewpoint to look back on my child’s early years and figure out why they are behaving the way they are. Practitioners of this technique believe that violent impulses may be located deep in one’s unconscious mind and impact one’s thoughts, feelings, and actions (King, 2019). Although my children are still very young, I have gained knowledge on all aspects of a child’s maturation process. With this understanding, I will be a better parent In the future since I know how my child’s brain will continue to expand through adolescence and all through their early adulthood.

To begin, I believe that a background in psychology will serve me well in my career path. This class taught me a variety of methods for determining my personality type. For example, your personality may influence your professional route and indicate whether you are dissatisfied with your current position (Riggio, 2018). I may also learn a lot about the people around me by taking the personality questionnaire. One’s personality may be described as a set of persistent, unique ideas, feelings, and actions that define how that person responds to the environment around them (King, 2019). I discovered that my personality is that of an introvert, which led me to conclude that I am more likely to be a giver than a receiver in terms of the energy I put out into the world. As I near the end of my degree program and start exploring a job I want to pursue, having this information will help me make more informed decisions about my professional future. Finding a job that is a good fit for my personality type and my unique set of characteristics is much easier when I have a firm grasp on my personality quirks.

The study of psychology will be beneficial to me in the future regarding my relationships. My background in psychology has provided me with the appropriate information to identify distinct patterns of behavior shown by others in my immediate environment, whether it be with my spouse, friends, or co-workers. I have gained knowledge that will assist me in creating good first perceptions of people and how to build better first perceptions of individuals. One’s Perception is the process through which we develop impressions of people (King, 2019). My studies in psychology have taught me how to interpret a person’s sentiments by analyzing their body language, facial expressions, and other non-verbal cues. This has enabled me to better understand how another person is experiencing the world. These abilities will help me make better decisions about the people I meet and the interactions I choose to have in my personal and professional life.

Whether it’s a business or simply an ordinary social occasion, I now have the information and abilities necessary for dealing with various diverse environments. My job and social circles are populated by people from various nationalities and cultures. Psychology has given me the knowledge and abilities to appreciate better the disparities that may exist between people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic origins. Taking this course now will prepare me for dealing with individuals who are not like me in the future and help me avoid confrontation in such instances. I feel it is my firm belief that my ability to build and maintain relationships will be my most valuable asset in the years ahead.

The study of psychology will be beneficial to me in the future regarding my relationships. My education in psychology has provided me with the tools to identify distinct patterns of behavior shown by others in my immediate environment, whether it be with my fiance, friends, or co-workers. First impressions are essential, and I have learned how to improve myself and others using these techniques. The term “person perception” refers to the mental process that causes us to develop other people’s perceptions (King, 2019). My studies in psychology have taught me how to interpret a person’s moods by analyzing their body language, facial expressions, and other cues such as their facial expressions and body language. A more vital ability to make sound decisions about the people in my personal and professional life will come from learning how to use these skills.

This course has equipped me with the information and abilities necessary to deal with various situations, from the workplace to regular social gatherings. My job and social circles are populated by people from multiple ethnic and cultural backgrounds. My ability to form and maintain healthy relationships is where I anticipate I will experience the most development, progress, and overall change in the years to come.

My studies in psychology have shown me that, contrary to popular belief, being “different” is not a negative thing. Deviant, maladaptive, or distressing conduct that lasts for an extended time constitutes abnormal behavior (King, 2019). Several people have been diagnosed with bipolar, and during that process, I learned about certain psychological diseases, such as the “odd conduct” that accompanied their condition. Other than medicine, I learned strategies to control the bipolar episodes that were not previously known to me but may apply to anybody with my particular depression. Non-medical psychotherapy helps people with psychological difficulties discover and overcome their issues.

Through my newfound understanding of various ways for stress alleviation and non-medical therapies and coping skills, I will have a deeper appreciation for the hand that God has handed me and the mind and body that he has given me with. My condition has always been something that I have felt was a burden on me and something I should be embarrassed about having. Having a better understanding of my disease and how to deal with it has given me a new perspective on life. Psychologists can help me think more positively and accept myself as I am. To cope with my disease, I have learned to concentrate on what I do well and what I like about myself via psychology. People with bipolar disorder (BD) may benefit from recovery-oriented treatment if interventions are designed to help them feel more in control of their mood fluctuations and worry less about them.

My life will be transformed by psychology in the end. Better stress management techniques and better listening to my children will help me better understand what prompts them to do certain things. With the critical thinking abilities I have developed myself, I plan to utilize the tools and skills I have gained to help me solve problems in my present position and the future. I learned a lot about people’s perspectives on life by reading the posts on the personality discussion board. The discussion board titled “Spanking” was one example that demonstrated the diversity of views. Not everyone had the same viewpoint on whether or not physical punishment is an effective way to discipline a kid; yet, the knowledge provided to me made me understand that there are other points of view and that there is no single right or wrong answer.

Even in the field of psychology, differing viewpoints are common. I learned how everyone perceives things differently and that there is a method to communicate disagreements without getting into a fight. To improve my interactions with others, I will use this method. As a result, I consider myself to be a more empathetic individual toward the views of others. Although there will be those who disagree with me entirely, I am much more at ease acknowledging that fact today.
