Middle Childhood Experiences’ Impact on Adulthood at Work and Within Society

Research Topic

The impact of middle childhood experiences on adulthood at work and within society.

Hypothesis

There is a relationship between the exposure to different environments in middle childhood and career choices and social interactions of adulthood.

Research Questions

  1. What middle childhood experiences influence the choice of profession?
  2. What middle childhood situations and experiences transfer to interpersonal relations?

Type of Study

The research will be a survey study that will analyze young adults’ perception of middle school experiences and their influence on their career choices and interpersonal skills. This type of study will entail interviewing and recording data based on questionnaires that are framed in relation to the topic at hand.

Sample

Sampling will be done using the stratified sampling technique that will require splitting respondents into groups relative to their professions and choosing respondents randomly from the strata. This sampling method is chosen to avoid bias factors in the study, ensuring the research captures a diverse range of professions and job categories and their link to middle childhood. Consequently, the sampling approach will help in improving the reliability of the data collected. The selection will be made among high school students in a particular school.

Data Collection Tools

The main instrument used is a voice recorder for the study interviews that will aid in data storage in audio format. The instrument provides a level of accountability from the researcher and provides security of data for future reference. Interview schedules will be prepared to guide the study in the data collection stage of the research process. The questions developed are set to provide answers to the research questions and will be used to analyze the hypothesis.

The study measures the frequency of links between occupations and main activities undertaken in middle childhood. A high occurrence of individuals linking their career choices to middle childhood indicates middle childhood’s impact on adulthood and the professions/career choices that are made.

Basic Outline of the Flow of the Study

The study’s preliminary preparation will involve team selection, mobilizing resources, and establishing the target population. The study requires the preparation of an interview schedule for the administration of interviews as a data collection method guided by the hypothesis the study is evaluating. The research will require the stratified selection of respondents from a population of young professionals in a community.

Interview sessions will be conducted while the researcher fills the interview schedule and voice recording. Voice recordings provide a digital way of storing the data and provide security in data management. Data is then analyzed in the study to establish an answer to the research questions. The stage ensures data are combined and converted into relevant formats for analysis and easy interpretation of the results. The data interpretation is expected to provide meaning to the raw data collected and further establish the validity of the research hypothesis. A hypothesis test supports research by giving analytical evidence to the assumptions made in the study: middle childhood experiences have an influence on the career paths young adults choose to explore

Implications of This Research Study/Research Questions

In questioning middle childhood, we question the stage of development where the child develops cognitive skills and is emotionally aware. The question posed is the importance society tends to sideline and is not given priority. The stage ensures the continuity of and skills are built on the experiences in this stage. The expected inference of the research is the realization that middle childhood has a big impact on a person’s course of life.

The study considers adulthood to be a reflection of skills perfected in middle childhood. As the name suggests, the research tries to establish how middle childhood is treated simply as a transition between two general stages of human development: a bridge between childhood and adolescence. In light of the research, the stage is a transition that affects our entire lives.

The stage is an important part of development because children begin to make choices that may impact their adulthood at this stage. Such factors include the extracurricular activities they participate in that, including clubs and sports. The choices made at this stage, either clubs or interactions in the playground, help them identify their skills and capacities.

A challenge in middle childhood is expected to be a diversity of extracurricular activities offered, which is not given the importance it requires. The aspect may be limiting or may force children to pick from what is available. The children are forced to suppress their talents and abilities because of the limited platforms provided.

Linked activities and occupations may include examples such as debate clubs and law or robotics clubs, and engineering or journalism clubs and journalism. In addition, at this age, playgrounds and games are commonly characterized to have rules and regulations and, in many cases, require teams. Observation shows that children police each other into following rules and regulations, a trait that impacts moral conduct and awareness of ethics at an early age.

If the stage is not monitored well, this may negatively impact the child’s development, and some skills and talents will remain dormant. The lack thereof in proper monitoring of children means they are exposed to wrong paths and choices, resulting in inactive societies that lack social capacity and professionalism diversity.
