The emotional state is a vital part of an individual’s mental health. Mental health disorders are common in childhood, and it is essential to prevent them to avoid behavioral deviations and reduce the level of emotional pressure on children (Ogundele, 2018). Therefore, it is significant to investigate the frequency with which participants of an experiment experience emotional problems and difficulties with over-demanding families and find the dependency with these rates.
It is necessary to examine the provided chart cross tabs’ outputs o test a hypothesis with two variables. It is possible to notice that 42.4% of participants, who never feel that family make too many demands on them, are also never bothered by emotional problems. Simultaneously, only 9.1% of the survey’s members answered “yes, often” regarding the over-demanding issue but pointed that they have never experienced emotional difficulties for the past seven days. The last category has the opposite dependence as the percentage of answers “yes, very often” and “no, never” are 16.7% and 2.5%, respectively.
The following steps are chart cross tabs’ interpretation and an association between variables explanation. The chart cross tabs provide an association in each category of answers, according to the 10-percentage-point rule (“Week 4 Forum Crosstabs”). The differences between the highest and the lowest column in each row are 29.9%, 23.1%, 13.4%, 18.1%, and 13.3%, respectively. As the larger the percentage differences, the stronger the association, the thresholds in the first two categories are considerable in general and in comparison to others (“Week 4 Forum Crosstabs”). As chart cross tabs’ results show that variables tend to increase together, it is possible to claim a positive direction of the association.
Investigation of the frequency of emotional problem experiencing, difficulties with over-demanding families occurring, and the relation between them is the experiment’s purpose. The research question is, “Does the frequency with which participants experience emotional problems coincide with the rate of difficulties with over-demanding families occurring?” On the mentioned issue basis, it is possible to outline alternative and hull hypotheses.
“The frequency with which participants experience difficulties with over-demanding families is related to the rate of emotional problems occurring” is the assumption that the experiment’s goal is to support. The null hypothesis is “the frequency with which participants experience difficulties with over-demanding families is not related to the rate of emotional problems occurring.” The discovered relationship between variables is supposed to support the alternative and refute the null hypothesis.
