Lawrence thought he would never come out from underneath the hiding spot while he was despondent. Even some of the most severe depression, nonetheless, can be treated. There are numerous alternative treatments, ranging from psychotherapy to medicine to positive lifestyle modifications. Among all other individuals, just as no two individuals are influenced by depression in the very same manner, no “one size that fits all” therapy for depression exists. What is effective for one individual may not be effective for another. However, by getting as prepared as possible, Lawrence could discover therapies to help him fight depression, recover his life, and feel optimistic and relieved anew. Firstly, a therapist could make sure that they know the type of depression that Lawrence was suffering. This approach is very important because it would enable the therapist to determine whether Lawrence’s symptoms were due to an underlying medical condition (Choi-Kain et al., 2016). After the therapist has established this, their depression of Lawrence would have to be treated first. This technique would be helpful because it would help in preventing intense treatment for severe depression.
Secondly, a therapist could explain the therapeutic process to Lawrence and explain how he would recover and benefit from the therapy. When the therapist explains the importance of therapies to Lawrence, he is not supposed to be guaranteeing the success of the therapy or assuring him that everything will be okay. By doing this, the therapist would have prepared Lawrence psychologically so that anything could happen (Vaštakė & Skruibis, 2021). Explanation of these therapeutic processes would help because neither the therapist would make guarantees. Lastly, throughout their appointments, Lawrence’s psychotherapist always showed a regulated and suitable level of passion. The above technique would be helpful to Lawrence, a depressed person because counselors who are successful at what they do are sympathetic and sincerely concerned about their patients (Barr, 2016). The therapist should be aware that sometimes depressed people’s emotions when their therapists get to be empathic and genuinely caring. The therapist should ensure that he helps his client Lawrence work through highly vulnerable feelings or memories in a safe therapeutic way that does not traumatize Lawrence.
